View and Update Ethnicity
This topic will give you a basic understanding of to view and update your personal ethnicity information in the ctcLink Student Homepage. At the end of this topic, you will be able to:
- View and update your ethnicity questions
- View and update ethnic background information
For the most comprehensive learning experience, it is recommended to read the content and watch the videos. However, you can choose to engage with specific topic material by selecting that specific type of learning modality.
Read It!
View and Update Ethnicity
When you are on your ctcLink Student Homepage, select the Profile tile.
The Personal Details page will display. On the left-hand navigation, select Ethnicity.
The Ethnicity tab will displays. Here you can review and select answers to the two IPEDS Ethnicity questions.
Note: IPEDS stands for Integrated Post-secondary Education Data System. IPEDS provides basic data needed to describe — and analyze trends in — post-secondary education in the United States, in terms of the numbers of students enrolled, financial aid used, staff employed, dollars expended, and degrees and certificates earned.
Next you will want to select the Background tab at the top of the page.
Once the Background page displays, select an existing Code to update, or select [+] to add a new code.
If appropriate, check the Primary checkbox.
Then select Save.
Note: You can choose one or multiple ethic groups by using the [+] to add additional codes.

Try It!
This simulation will take you through the process of viewing the Update Ethnicity from the profile tile on the ctcLink Student Homepage in PeopleSoft. A menu of the process steps is provided by selecting the ellipses at the top left side of the simulation; as well as hints to help you along the way. Because the simulations are delivered as a non-graded assignment, there is a zero point value assigned.
