9.2 PeopleSoft Fundamentals
Course Overview
The purpose of this course is to introduce the fundamentals of ctcLink (PeopleSoft). PeopleSoft is the name of the software the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) uses to manage all student (Campus Solutions or CS), human resources (Human Capital Management or HCM), and financial (Finance or FIN) data. By the end of this course you should have a basic understanding of what ctcLink is and how to navigate throughout the system. Course information includes an overview of ctcLink, Frequently Asked Questions, videos relating to navigating the system, as well as additional resources such as Terms and Concepts, QRGs and Navigation Guides.
Course Description
This course is intended for staff working in the ctcLink PeopleSoft systems within the three ctcLink pillars (Campus Solutions, Finance and Human Capital Management) at one or more of the many Washington State Community or Technical Colleges.
Audience
End Users (Learners) should currently be participating in activities through their institutions. Completion of all Fundamentals activities is required prior to moving through the individual pillar course modules.

Course Objectives
After successfully completing this course every End User will demonstrate a basic understanding of the fundamental PeopleSoft components within ctcLink. Then depending on your role within ctcLink, you will continue through various other courses to gain a basic understanding of each.

- Navigate within the PeopleSoft application
- Customize your environment
- Use search pages
- Work with grids
- Add and update data
- Run reports, jobs and queries
- Know basic PeopleSoft terms and concepts
Activities & Assignments
Each activity should be accessed and followed in order within the module. After each requirement has been met, content pages have been read and videos have been viewed, a check mark will appear in the far right side of the particular item you completed.
Most modules have an assessment included as the final required activity. To pass the course, an 80% or higher is required on all assessments. You will have multiple attempts at each assessment and they are not timed. Once an assessment is complete, you are able to begin working in the next module.

Facilitator Information
The Training Team at the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges will be facilitating this course. Several different people will be monitoring and maintaining the modules and discussions, so it is best to use the General Q&A Discussion Forum area for questions and concerns. Browser and Technical Requirements
Chrome is the recommended browser for Canvas. Firefox and Safari will work as well. However, Internet Explorer does not play nice with Canvas, so it is recommended that one of the above mentioned browsers are used instead of IE.
Updated versions of Adobe Flash Player and Java are also required. Information regarding which browsers Canvas supports can be located in Canvas Guides.
