3.B: Graphing Lines with Points

Overview

The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to graph a line by identifying solution pairs of the equation.

This lesson will address the following CCRS Standard(s) for Algebra:

  • A.CED.2: Create equations in two or more variables to represent relationships between quantities; graph equations on coordinate axes with labels and scales
  • A.REI.10: Understand that the graph of an equation in two variables is the set of all its solutions plotted in the coordinate plane, often forming a curve (which could be a line).

Summary

In this lesson we have learned:

  • A graph of an equation is a picture of all the solutions
  • We can make this graph by identifying three (or more) points and connecting the dots
