3.A: Graphing Points
Overview
The purpose of this lesson is to review graphing points on the coordinate plane.
This lesson will address the following CCRS Standard(s) for Algebra:
- 6.NS.8: Solve real-world and mathematical problems by graphing points in all four quadrants of the coordinate plane. Include use of coordinates and absolute value to find distances between points with the same first coordinate or the same second coordinate.

Summary
In this lesson we have reviewed:
- The coordinate plane is two intersecting number lines representing x (horizontal) and y (vertical) that intersect at 0 on both number lines.
- Points on the plane are represented by (x,y) pairs, where the first number is the horizontal distance and the second number is the vertical distance.
